The Blues Brothers cartoon you've always wanted is coming soon

Dan Aykroyd sure does love to live in the past. He keeps bringing up Ghostbusters, I'm sure he calls Jim Belushi constantly, and now he's bringing back the Blues Brothers. The famed Saturday Night Live sketch and movie series is going to have its own animated spinoff. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Aykroyd and fellow SNL alum Anne Beatts are teaming alongside Judy Belushi, John Belushi's widow, in order to make the series a reality. The primetime series has reportedly been in the works since the 90s. Here's the synopisis:

Jake and Elwood Blues, along with the characters within their master blues band, as the boys take their act on the road and back to their native Chicago,” and Bob’s Burgers’ Bento Box Entertainment will produce the project alongside Aykroyd, Beatts, and Belushi. “It’s so great to accelerate Jake and Elwood at digital speed into the 21st Century via the outstanding creative group at Bento Box,” Aykroyd said on the news. “The show will be the Blues Brothers living in America and utilizing all new technology to make and promote their own records, seek out and record new artists and avoid law enforcement – and all while fighting for truth, justice and a better breakfast sandwich.
