"Showtime at the Apollo" is a go at Fox

April 17, 2017

Comedians: prepared to be heckled by a black audience once Showtime at the Apollo returns. And it is returning thanks to Fox. The new iteration of the show previously had two separate specials back December and January. Of course, they performed well enough to warrant a full series pick up. Steve Harvey is set to return as well.

The host told Variety "...our mission is a little different this time around. Instead of just putting on a great show, we’re going to do that and find the next great comic and the next big music star."

What happens at the Apollo isn't just music based. Musical acts from Michael Jackson to Stevie Wonder also performed throughout the 82 year history of the theater. There's no telling if this new show will have musical fixings as well.
