Tiffany Haddish gets her own animated Netflix program

Netflix is no stranger to animated shows, let alone animated adult shows. F is For Family, Big Mouth, and Bojack Horseman are the only ones to be loved by both critics and the audience. This time, Netflix is going to explore an animated female's perspective for once.

The Wrap reports that Girls Trip star and The Carmichael Show alum Tiffany Haddish will take the lead role in Tuca and Bertie. The story follows two 30-year-old bird women who live in the same apartment building: Tuca, a cocky, care-free toucan (Haddish), and Bertie, an anxious, daydreaming songbird.

Netflix has ordered a ten episode first seaon of Tuca and Bertie. The show comes from Bojack production designer Lisa Hanawalt as well as creator Raphael Bob-Waksberg in the executive producer role. Steven A. Cohen and Noel Bright will also produce.

Michelle Wolf will also get a late night Netflix show

Netflix will not stop its path to become a one destination for everything. It's got HBO-style comedies and dramas; first run movies; kid's originals; and now late night. Following the abysmal run of two Chelsea Handler projects, they bought into a new show from Joel McHale that sounds like The Soup except without a green screen. 

Now Michelle Wolf will get her own late night project. 

Said Vice President of Content for Netflix Bela Bajaria on the news: “We’re thrilled to be working with Michelle, a gifted writer and performer with a singular voice."

Variety reports that Wolf's (The Daily Show, Nice Lady) new show is a half hour and will look at broader events from around the world as opposed to other late night series. Wolf is set to executive produce via her Cats in Pants studio. Daniel Bodansky, Dan Powell and Christine Nangle will executive produce while the latter two will serve as co-showrunners.

Amazon will not squash "The Tick," renews it for second season

In a world with too many superhero shows, Amazon took the only fork in the road and opted for the most surreal superhero in their revival of The Tick. The first half of the first season (strange choice, yes) premiered last year and moved the comic character to new, adult heights. This versions is dark yet just as lively and grim but equally funny. 

Now Amazon is opting to stick with The Tick for another season set to air in 2019 says Deadline. Their practices in producing and airing the show are strange but at least we have more of The Tick. Series creator Ben Edlund will stick around as he's always done since the first Tick comics and shows. Peter Serafinowicz, Griffin Newman, Valorie Curry, Brendan Hines, Yara Martinez, Scott Speiser, Michael Cerveris, John Pirkis and Alan Tudyk all should return too. The final six episodes of season one will air on February 23.

While the writing isn’t too fresh, the one liners are superb; the casting is good; and the show fills a niche of campy superhero properties the world desperately needed."

David Letterman's first guest on his Netflix show is the last good president

David Letterman has been off the air for two years now yet his eagerness to return knows no bounds. That's why he teamed up with Netflix to do another talk show. For a few months now, mum has been the word on the series but now we finally have a few details.

According to Deadline, Letterman's new show is titled My Guest Needs No Introduction and his first interview is a ginormous. President Barack Obama is tapped to talk with the host about all things presidential.

Other guests will include George Clooney, Malala Yousafzai, Jay-Z, Tina Fey, Howard Stern. My Guest Needs No Introduction will also include field segments and interviews beyond the traditional studio setting.

The first episode premieres on Netflix on January 12 with the remaining five airing monthly throughout the year. Future episodes haven't been mentioned. 

It's worth noting that Letterman doing an online series is in stark contrast as to what he said in 2015 when asked about late night making the rounds on YouTube.

Netflix has a couple of new trailers for David Wain's next movie and "Grace and Frankie"

After years of waiting for David Wain's next film, fans finally get a chance to look at his most anticipated work since new Wet Hot American Summer sequels. Wain has been toiling away directing a National Lampoon biopic that's a lampoon in and of itself. Written by Micahel Colton and John Aboud, A Futile and Stupid Gesture follows Will Forte as the magazine's founder Doug Kinney and a cast of characters that look nothing like the originals including Martin Mull, Thomas Lennon as Michael O’Donoghue, Joel McHale as Chevy Chase, Jackie Tohn as Gilda Radner, Jon Daly as Bill Murray, John Gemberling as John Belushi and more. A Futile and Stupid Gesture premieres on Friday, January 26 on Netflix.

The second trailer is for Grace and Frankie, the hit following Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. For season 4, Lisa Kudrow joins the cast. Grace and Frankie returns next month.
