Fresh off of his stunning performance in the most Comedy Central Roast, Rob Lowe is heading back to movies with a role in Super Troopers 2. Deadline reports that Lowe will play former hockey player and Quebec border town mayor Guy Le Franc. Those Broken Lizard boys are back including Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske. They wrote the movie and Chandrasekhar is directing. The sequel raised over $4.5 million through crowdfunding on Indiegogo last year.
HBO decides not to bring back 'The Brink' but FOX and CBS want more 'The Grinder' & 'Life In Pieces'
Comedy TV shows come and go every year but almost none get their renewed status revoked. Add The Brink to the list as HBO pulls its decision to renew the series for a sophomore year. Way back in July, HBO renewed the series, albeit almost hesitantly, along with the Dwayne Johnson led Ballers and now its decided against that. HBO told Deadline that "After evaluating our schedule and our programming needs, we unfortunately decided we cannot give The Brink the attention it deserves for a second season" which is kind of like breaking up with someone after finally giving them the attention they wanted for so long. The Brink was always sitting on the fence in terms of renewal but it seemed like a promising series with its cast consisting of Jack Black, Tim Robbins and Aasif Mandvi.
It's not all bad in the world of comedy television, however, as Life In Pieces gets a full season pick up thanks to CBS says The Hollywood Reporter. Filled with a great cast -- with the likes of Colin Hanks, Betsy Brandt and James Brolin -- and slightly different style of story telling (i.e. in four different stories), Life In Pieces gets that back nine order that network shows crave. This comes with a move to Thursdays too along with its Big Bang Theory lead in in order to make room for Supergirl.
And finally, Fox realizes it wants more of the Rob Lowe and Fred Savage led The Grinder. The network ordered a full season reports the AV Club. The show is faring better than John Stamos' Grandfathered while also boosting Fox's average ratings over 70%. All of that really means that the show will be around for the next few months.
Fred Savage and Rob Lowe to star in a Fox Pilot, Probably not as Kevin Arnold and Sam Seaborn
Having been one of the few people to increase his popularity after his childhood through directing/producing, Fred Savage is hopping back in front of the camera as an actor. Deadline reports that Savage will co-star along side Rob Lowe in a show for Fox called Grinder.
Probably not based on the gay dating app of the same name, The Grinder will follow Lowe as beloved TV lawyer Dean Sanderson (aka “The Grinder”) after his show ends and he moves back to his hometown to work with his brother, Stewart Sanderson (Savage), at their family's law firm. No matter how hard Stewart works, he feels he is always in the shadow of his older sibling.
Andrew Mogel (Yes Man), Nick Stoller (The Muppets), and Jarrad Paul (Home Fries) are developing the show. Paul and Mogel also wrote the pilot.
