Netflix continues clocking in comedy shows with the latest addition starring current Netflix star Natasha Lyonne. The yet to be titled series has already been given eight episodes too. Lyonne will take on the role of Nadia, a special guest at a big party one night in New York. Deadline reports co-executive producing duties will go to the three ladies that created the show: Amy Poehler, Natasha Lyonne and Leslye Headland, with Headland and Lyonne writing the series. Poehler's Paper Kite Productions will help produce.
Upright Citizens Brigade founders to reunite at Carnegie Hall next year
Fans of improv and alternative comedy are in f or a treat. The founding members of the Upright Citizens Brigade are coming together for a new sketch showcase at Carnegie Hall. On Thursday, June 28, 2018, Amy Poehler, Matt Besser, Matt Walsh and Ian Roberts are taking A.S.S.S.C.A.T. to the stage for one night only.
The performance is a part of the 20th annual Del Close Marathon where comedy fans celebrate the work of the festival's titular man.
Tickets, of course, cannot be bought yet. This year's Del Close Marathon recently came to a close this past weekend. Amy Poehler and Will Ferrell are paying tuition with "The House" this summer
Summer comedy season is a hit or miss period that can pop out some gems once in a while. Last year's Popstar Never Stop Never Stopping was a good example that no one saw. 22 Jump Street was in the same role two years prior. This year will have a few more will join the club including reboot Baywatch. And that movie will have the company of The House.
Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler star as two parents who can't pay for their daughter's college tuition. That's when Jason Mantzoukas's character suggests they open a casino in their home. Other cast members include Nick Kroll, Lennon Parham, Cedric Yarbrough, Rory Scovel, and Rob Huebel among others. Frequent Zac Efron collaborators Brendan O’Brien and Andrew J. Cohen wrote the script and Cohen directed.
Tina Fey & Amy Poehler are presenting Carol Burnett with the SAG Life Achievement Awards
Before the Kristin Wiigs and Melissa McCarthys, there was the great Carol Burnett. SAG-AFTRA's most esteemed award has already been given to the likes of Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Ernest Borgnine, Betty White, James Earl Jones among others making Burnett the 52nd recipient all around. The Hollywood Reporter says the awards take place this Saturday, Januray 29 at 8pm on TNT and TBS.
Amy Poehler, Craig Ferguson and others nominated for the coveted Grammy
Music lovers rejoice as the 2016 Grammy nominations were announced this morning. However, among the musicians and singers alike were some of the top comedians who had their own audiophile styled releases this year. Amy Poehler was nominated for her work reading her book Yes Please and Craig Ferguson, Wyatt Cenac and Louis C.K. were given nods for their latest standup releases.
