Following in the footsteps of Samantha Bee, Pete Holmes and other non-talk show hosting comedians like Rashida Jones, Wyatt Cenac is set to get his first starring role in a television series. Dubbed People of Earth, TBS has given order to the Conaco produced ensemble series.
The premise is unlike any other sitcom wherein it follows a support group for survivors of alien abductions. Cenac will play a reporter who is, at first, skeptical about the existence of space dwelling life forms but soon thinks that he may have been taken himself. Variety has learned that the show was picked up for 10 episodes at the Television Critics Association.
The Office's Greg Daniels is set to executive produce while David Jenkins will write the pilot. The ensemble cast also includes big names like Oscar Nunez, Ana Gasteyer, Alice Wetterlund, and Brian Huskey followed by Michael Cassidy, Nancy Lenehan, Luka Jones, Tracee Chimo, Bjorn Gustafson and Ken Hall.
