Christopher Guest finds his 'Mascots' in some old friends

Earlier this month, I reported news of a new Netflix movie to be done by master mockumentarian Christopher Guest. Now, said movie has a bunch of Guest's regular actors from most of his works. Not everyone is coming along for the ride though. THR reports that the cast includes Jane Lynch, Parker Posey, John Michael Higgins, Jennifer Coolidge and Bob Balaban. These actors have appeared in the last couple of Guest's movies from Best In Show to Consideration. Sadly, Eugene Levy and Catherine O' Hara are nowhere to be found -- except on the Canadian comedy series Schitt's Creek. This may be a scheduling conflict too as Mascots is due to start shooting in Los Angeles in November.

Christopher Guest's mockumentary 'Mascots' is a Netflix exclusive

Netflix sure is taking over the 'sclusie scene. Variety reports the streaming giant will release Christopher Guest's latest film Mascots next year. Set up like Guest's other mockumentary films such as This is Spinal Tap and Best In ShowMascots will follow the people in  the 8th World Mascot Association championships as the compete for the Gold Fluffy Award. The announcement came in the form of a flyer for the mascot event. Let's hope there are several jokes about furries in the movie. I wouldn't want it any other way.
