Way back in October 2014, it was reported that Sofia Coppola and Bill Murray were going to make a Christmas special together. Now, there is a definite cast. Amy Poehler, Miley Cyrus and Maya Rudolph will reportedly play themselves. And lo and behold George Clooney Almighty is gracing the special with his presence too. My guess is that Poehler and Rudolph are Murray's Christmas Past ghosts; Clooney is his Christmas Future; and Cyrus is the Christmass Present because that's all that's left. The story of the special apparently follows Murray as he tries to avoid being signed by a ruthless talent agent.
Bill Murray, Sofi Coppola to Make A Christmas Special
Ex-ghotbuster and newly sanctioned resident of Saint Vincent Bill Murray is finally introducing the world to his singing voice via a Christmas special.
Variety reports that the actor is teaming up with director Sofia Coppola to produce and star in said special. His voice was heard during his latest film Saint Vincent as he sang "Shelter From the Storm." Naturally, he'll be crooning carols of the season like "Little Shop of Horrors," "Groundhog Day," and "Scrooged."
Coppola confirmed that the special is happening:
“We’re working on a Christmas special,” she said. “Not sure when it will air, but my motivation is to hear him singing my song requests.”
How fucking selfish is that, Sofia? I want to hear him sing the Jewish song Maoz Tzur.
