Here are the 2017 comedy Emmy nominations

The Emmys come only but once a year. And this year's looks to be more diverse than ever, comedy wise that is. The usual suspects like Veep are there but then newcomers like Samantha Bee and Pamela Aldon join the fun. The Emmys air on Sunday, September 17th at 8 PM. Stephen Colbert will host so we know who's not winning his award...(jk I don't know).

Of course "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" was given a renewal

Seeking to keep in good graces with Tina Fey, Netflix has renewed Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt for season four Variety reports. The third season just premiered on the streaming service. Kimmy is on her way to college as both new and familiar faces join the series. Unbreakable stars Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski and Carol Kane. Seasons one and two nabbed 11 Emmy Award nominations. One of the most talked about scenes for season three involved Titus' Lemonade song "Hold Up" parody.

Netflix's May stand up specials include Tracy Morgan, Sarah Silverman

As Netflix takes the comedy special crown from both Comedy Central and HBO, the streaming platform sets the date for its next five stand up events. Big Red is staying true to its word that it will in fact release a new special every week this year. Joining already announced Tracy Morgan and Sarah Silverman specials is Maria  Bamford, Norm MacDonald and Hasan Minhaj sets.

On May 2nd, Bamford's Old Baby premieres; May 9th has MacDonald's Hitler's Dog, Gossip & Turkey; Morgan's Staying Alive bows on May 16th; Minhaj's very popular Homecoming King plays on May 23; and A Speck of Dust from Silverman flutters on May 30th.

Netflix also announced premiere dates for their new comedy shows. Master of None season 2 debuts on May 12th. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 3 begins on May 19th. Season 2 of F Is For Family debuts on May 30th. 

The WGA's recognize a whole bunch of your favorite comedy shows

The Writer's Guild Awards were last this past weekend and you might've missed them because guild stuff doesn't matter to you. Looks like you have a life. Good for you. Anyways, homeruns like Bob's Burgers, Veep, and Silicon Valley defeated their contemporaries and took home the gold. The WGA Awards nominate all of your favorite shows

The Writer's Guild of America has released their nominations for the 2016 WGA Awards. Comedy had a banner year and, if these nominees are any indication, it'll be hard to choose a winner. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Veep, Broad City, Transparent and Silicon Valley are all nominated for best comedy series.
