This is the news you didn’t know about for the week of July 3, 2017!
With the Academy of Arts and Sciences being chastised for its lack of diversity, they knew they had to make some moves in the colored department. The organization did just that these past two years with its new classes of members. Almost 1,500 new people have been invited to join, many of them people of color and/or women. With those numbers, the Academy beat its goal of diversification by three years! But they have a long way to go for true parity in the circle.
