Who knew that Woodstock held a comedy festival? I sure didn’t. But the folks at Splitsider did. The Woodstock Comedy Festival is in its fourth year and begins next week. Gilbert Gottfried, The Simpsons co-creator Mike Reiss an Susie Essman are among the entertainers scheduled to show up. Even better, proceeds from the festival go to local charities Family of Woodstock and Polaris. This is a panel based festival so expect a more intimate affair. The Woodstock Comedy Festival goes from September 23 to the 25.
The Brooklyn Comedy Festival returns with full sound, color
Creating a trailer and using a hit song from the Alabama Shakes is a risky move for a comedy festival to make. But the hipsters who put together the Brooklyn Comedy Festival don't care what you think; they only want you to come and laugh at all the comedians. And what a list they have (many of whom we've spoken to). Not only are big names like Vanessa Bayer, Sasheer Zamata, Phoebe Robinson and Josh Gondelman performing but they'll be joined by Julio Torres, Nimesh Patel, Brett Davis, MURDERFIST, Reformed Whores, Myq Kaplan, Sean Donnelly, Joel Kim Booster, Michelle Buteau, Dan Soder, Hari Kondabolu, Joe List, Jo Firestone, Aparna Nancherla, Joe Pera, and Langston Kerman. And Reggie Watts is closing out the whole thing with a performance at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. The Brooklyn Comedy Festival goes from August 22nd to the 28th. Shows will be free or paid but you can always spring for the relatively affordable $99 VIP pass that will get you in everywhere except for a corporate job. Enjoy the festival and ride off in the sunset with your penny-farthing bikes, you bearded bastards.
Hahaha, look at all these funny (new) faces Just For Laughs
Every year, Just For Laughs returns with a festival full of laughs and Canadian values. And every year, it also introduces the world to new working comedians. The New Faces list has everyone a comedy nerd needs to know for the comedy world. The list encompasses three categories from stand ups to character and managerless comedians. The full list below comes from Splitsider so thank those lovely people for that.

Now hear this: Lauren Lapkus, Scott Aukerman and other comedians are headlining podcast festival of the same name
Podcast fanatics and festival fanatics alike will be ecstatic to hear that their favorite podcasters are taking over the Now Hear This Podcast Festival. The cool kids of podcasting including Marc Maron, Lauren Lapkus, Scott Aukerman, and Paul Scheer will be in attendance with their respective podcasts. Now Hear This will take place this October on the 28th to the 30th at the Anaheim Marriott. Additionally, thirty other live podcast recordings will be going down. There will also be meet and greets with who’s who in the podcasting world. To go along with Howl’s moniker “Netflix for podcasts,” festival organizer Midroll Media is dubbing this the “Comic Con of podcasting.” I can’t wait until they start a “church of podcasts” and we have to study our “devotions of podcasting.” TIckets go on sale on July 11.
